'Natural' bridal makeup ~ many Makeup Artists achilles heel

I have been so busy since last wedding season (Spring) that I have been neglecting my Makeup By Jana Blog! and haven't added very many new photos. I have been busy with 2012 trials, weddings in Jan, Feb and March still waiting on some photos and can't wait to share.

Well March is the start of our second wedding season (Autumn) here in Noosa, Sunshine Coast. I have just finished off heaps of trials for March weddings. With 2 from last minute brides who had cancelled their first makeup artist, it really is usually just a case of the makeup artist not listening to what the bride wants but also a case of misunderstanding a brides idea of 'Natural' as, 'natural' can mean different things to everyone and can really make a makeup artist come unstuck. I like to elaborate on the bride-to-be's idea of natural.

Natural ~ as in natural colours in eyes, lips and cheeks. Natural colours being browns, beige, light pinks or peaches.
Natural ~ as in stand out eyes but neutral colours everywhere else
Natural ~ as in light coloured eyeshadow, lips and cheeks.
Natural ~ as in lightly applied eyes, lips and cheeks.
Natural ~ as in very understated makeup look
Natural ~ as in a soft look, no black liner.

Natural does not mean nothing, otherwise they wouldn't get their makeup professionally done. It also usually takes the same time as other classic and bridal looks.

So when you are considering a 'natural' look, have a think about what 'natural' makeup means/looks to you. Sometimes it can be super hard to translate natural looks from photos as makeup tones down around 70% in photos so an intense smokey brown eye can actually look like a 'natural' look on camera, so that's something to take into consideration when wanting a natural look going by photos.

Makeup I'm loving right now...

I love my new brush cyclinder from CaraK brought from www.makeupandglow.com.au

Pro Makeup from Face Atelier Pro I love the flawlessness rather than packed on look that alot of high coverage makeups have.

And of course I'm loving my awesome new beauty pod...

and my new pallette I brought for beauty bridal looks

My all time favourites though are Youngblood's Lipglosses... I love the colour 'delicious' the most.

Youngblood's HiDef finishing powder is perfect for my brides ready to be close up ready with HiDef cameras... But also to look perfect to the eye

And I simply cannot finish a makeup without contouring and highlighting with my 'Mineral Radiance' palettes.

Makeup Looks I Love - Sunshine Coast Makeup Artist

I'm in love, love, love with Rachael Taylor's Emmy's makeup look.

I think this photo is a great example of how photography washes makeup out, in the left photo close up the makeup can be seen in all it's intensity and on the right you can see on camera how it just looks perfect... Obviously this is a glam look for Emmy's so it is intense.... But the colours and the bronze/gold/brown smokey eye with peachy/pink lips and cheeks is divine.
