Wedding Day Beauty

The more you look after yourself prior to the wedding the better your foundation will look, feel and set.

Facial Hair

There is nothing that makes makeup look as fresh & flawless as professionally waxed and trimmed eyebrows. Have eyes PROFESSIONALLY waxed & ready.  Also if you are having a bright lipstick make sure your upper lip is waxed for smooth, even and flawless liplines.

Lips

for plump, hydrated, moisturised lips; use The Body Shop Lip Scuff & Lip Care everyday.  Lipstick does not go on well with lips that are dry, cracked & cakey.  Available to order through Makeup By Jana.

Skin Care Regime

Daily cleansing, toning, moisturising AM & PM about 3 weeks prior will certainly improve the look, texture, radiance and moisture of your skin (Makeup By Jana offers a skincare diagnosis & product prescription service)

Drink lots of water

hydrated skin takes makeup well, looks fresher, glowing & radiant.  Avoid alcohol (except at your hens!).

Beauty Sleep

your skin physically shows signs of sleeplessness causing puffiness under the eyes, dry & sallow skin.

Beauty Foods

Low Fat Yoghurt (VitA), Blueberries (antioxidants), Salmon (EFAs), Avocados (B-Complex), Tomatoes (Vit A & C & Potassium), Wheat Germ (pimples), Citrus Fruits (form collagen).

Multivitamins

Take a Skin, Nails & hair multivitamin for 3 months prior to the big day,  the zinc can settle acne/breakouts if you have any & hair will be more shiny.

Wedding Day Schedule

Makeup By Jana can do a timetable for your wedding day, so it runs; smoothly, stress-less and seam-less.  Taking into account the amount of makeups (bridal party, mothers, flowergirls, aunties etc...), time allotted for makeup, photography start, hair, touchups etc...  I recommend your bridal party joining you in the morning for a champagne breakfast, with pancakes, scones, croissants, muffins etc... This makes sure everyone is well nourished for the busy day ahead.  If you don't have a large breakfast usually the next meal you have is at your reception!   Also have a bottle of water in the limo or you just before you wallk down the aisle, nerves can kick in and many brides have found their mouths become almost completely dry during the ceremony - not great for the first kiss!  To keep with the schedule please follow the WEDDING DAY PREP ADVICE

Wedding Day Prep Advice for all clients

Please follow, for perfectly prepped skin ready for makeup and to avoid delays.

If possible please have outfit ready and available to view, for an idea of colour and style for your makeup

Please let everyone know their place in the schedule so they are ready and arrive on time.

Shower before makeup artist arrival or prior to your scheduled start time (Please don't shower after makeup is done)

Pre-Makeup Cleanse/Tone/Moisturise  - very important as it provides a perfectly prepped base for flawless makeup application

If possible please have breakfast/brunch prior to makeup application

Have teeth brushed before your turn commences as brushing right when its your turn delays schedule.

Tip: Use the toothbrush as a lip exfoliator to remove dead skin cells for smooth lips

Have straws for drinking to avoid distubances to makeup

If using your own lipgloss/lipstick for reapplication please have them ready prior to appication

Acne

Acne Reducing Products (all available from chemists)

1. Phisohex or Cetaphil Face Wash

2. Benzac 2.5% or 5% (I use 5%)

3. Cetaphil Moisturiser

Acne Regimen

Phisohex:  Cleanse with Phisohex or Cetaphil Face Wash as directed.  HOT TIP:  Do not scrub on, just glide it on gently.  Scrubing and rubbing causes breakouts so go gently.

Benzac:  If blemishes are everywhere apply Benzac all over as directed. If you just have an area that breakouts concentrate in that area.  HOT TIP: As above, glide it on gently do not rub or buff in just glide it over face or area needed.  The more you apply the quicker the results.

Cetaphil Moisturiser: Apply to more delicate/dry areas to make sure skin doesn't dry out.

Pre-Makeup Cleanse/Tone/Moisturise  Routine

Step 1: Cleanse / exfoliate - for a smooth, gentle cleanse that wipes away dead skin cells (eg. equal parts Cetaphil Moisturiser & Bi-Card Soda).

Step 2: Tone very important to remove excess makeup, dirt & cleanser providing perfect base for makeup.  Don't use if you have a fake tan.

Step 3: Moisturise face & lips (use daily moisturiser + lip balm)
